Published first in 1536, the Institutes of the Christian Religion is John Calvins magnum opus. Extremely important for the Protestant Reformation, the Institutes has remained important for Protestant theology for almost five centuries.

John Calvins seminal work on Protestant systematic theology, The Institutes of the Christian Religion, was written as an introductory textbook on the Protestant faith and remains influential in the Western world and still widely read by theological students today.

The present edition is from the translation made by Henry Beveridge in 1845 for the Calvin Translation Society.
